I bought this light to inspect my car engine for pack rats after they destroyed my electrical wiring. I did a lot of research online and decided that I should invest in a good quality light rather than a cheap Amazon job. Like others mention, it's pretty expensive, but I think it's worth the cost. It's built like a tank and the light quality is unbelievable. I recommend this light if you can afford it.
There are warnings I need to make about this light:
1) Get a really good pair of UV protection glasses. This light *will* damage your eyes, so be careful.
2) Do *not* shine this light in your bathroom. Some things cannot be unseen. I'm still afraid to go back in.
Bought several lights over the last year, Convoy S2 Jaxman, Jaxman U1C, COnvoy S2+ Convoy C8.
Light offers little difference than some of the others on the market for 1/2 the cost. I have compared all brands listed above of same specimen. I do not recommend spending the money on this light.
I don't usually write reviews because I've seldom found a product that deserves the additional time from my day. The realUV™ LED Flashlight with BLACKOUT™ Filter Technology was the exception. My 50 year work life centered around nuclear energy, propulsion and electric power generation, where quality and performances were never compromised. Over the years I've used UV lights in many applications and configurations; none of the portable, battery operated lights that passed through my hands come close to the performance of this light. Is it pricey? Yep, but worth every penny and more if you want results. If you want performance and quality you have to pay for it. You get it with this light from Waveform Lighting.
This little light is pretty amazing. The fluorescence of certain objects or elements is on a whole other level with this light. Rocks that barely had any glow to them at all using a regular UV light are crazy bright with colors using this light. This is a very serious light and you need UV blocking eye protection. Shining the light at objects without eye protection will hurt your eyes. Best just to keep the eye protection with the light.
Works well - very bright, the black glass filter is nice to reduce the visible portion of the beam.
