My Mother-in-law mentioned that she wanted some additional light in her walk-in closet so I surprised her with a new fixture that used two of these fantastic bulbs. Needless to say, but I earned some valuable son-in-law points. She was very satisfied with how well she was now able to see all of her clothes.
Ok, I purchased two 6-packs of these and all arrived within a week and no damage. They all work. Light intensity and color range is great ! We already sense the better balance of color and range of reds from this bulb compared to the previous LED A19 60W bulbs we had purchased from Home Depot. These are easier on the eyes.
Light intensity is best **above** the table lamps in which they are installed. That’s because the design of the bulb blocks maybe a quarter to a third of that intensity from below the bulb. That makes it marginal for reading by older folks (who tend to require more light to read) unless the lampshade is translucent white and of a flared design that “reflects” light downward from the middle and upper portion of the bulb.
I have lamps with somewhat opaque woven cane shades that are straight cylindrical design. The older 60W LED bulbs that I used were more of a standard A19 style and emitted light evenly all around , upward and downward. These have a solid, opaque base that extends maybe a third of the way from the screw base to just below the bulbs widest diameter. That solid lower portion causes noticeably decreased illumination below the lamp.
I mention this for potential buyers to understand the effect of this bulbs design. I believe it shouldn’t be a show stopper for the majority of homeowners. Just know that the application should considered, and lampshade design can either help or hinder this bulb.
Otherwise I rate the bulb very good.
Looks like you're the only one who offers this high of an R9 value! Ate you the only one? If so, you should brag about it a little.😉
It was the only one I found. And it brings the warmth out of my newly refinished 100 year old woodwork!
I initially purchased these as I investigated more "natural" lighting, attempting to get closer to sunlight lighting for interior daytime. Upon delivery of my 6 bulbs, one seemed to have a manufacturer defect. After contacting Waveform they quickly apologized for the inconvenience and sent me a replacement! Have been plugged in for a month now and no issues. Very satisfied with my purchase.
Really like the light these bulbs put out!
Have been using them for a little while now and I can tell the difference in the red spectrum when looking at them next to the old led bulbs.
I'm a bit of an aficionado of modern household lighting technologies. I study the labels on the light bulb packages at the store sometimes. I have used more lamps than I have worn out. First the compact CFLs and higher CRI fluorescent tubes, then the led bulbs as they came along. I'm happy to see that LED prices have come way down. Now that California is pushing higher quality, there are a lot of 90 CRI bulbs at Home Depot. I'm not happy that they have killed off "enhanced" types such as GE Reveal. I like the purple, de-yellowing effect.
Finding out that no one will ship Reveal bulbs to me led to an internet search and I stumbled into Waveform Lighting.
I tried the Ultra High CRI 3000K 800 lumen bulbs. I'm quite delighted with them.
Still, I wish there was a purpled version. I know it lowers CRI but I like that effect. I used to use the purpled incandescents, regular and then halogen.
Meanwhile, being such a snob, I guess I'll have to buy any new bulbs from Waveform.
Backed up by good photometric documentation / data -- & good performance...
My only complaint is that the LUMEN output (while CLEARLY STATED as specified) in the literature -- is (really) TOO LOW for what I would like to see / want...
I am using Lutron Caseta dimmers throughout my home... Ergo, HIGH LUMEN output is DESIRABLE (even up to 200-250w+ equivalent) -- since I then can achieve GREAT FLEXIBILITY in my lighting designs -- via using DIMMING -- to get whatever I want -- at ANY point in time -- & in any 'scene'... The HIGH CRI 95+ is (always) GREAT for providing 'FULL-SPECTRUM' -- great color-rendering -- & making colors / scenes / objects COME ALIVE...
One day, these guys (I'm speaking generally) are going to (simultaneously) provide: HIGH CRI; HIGH LUMENS & ADJUSTABLE COLOR-TEMPERATURE; etc -- in a (wide) variety of lamps... THEN, you can have your own 'STAGE' -- & CONTROL everything via IOT / programs / scenes / schedules / AI / etc. -- & make your home / store / office / etc. to be like a professional stage/movie/theater set...
Some of my lights arrived damaged upon shipment, but I contacted waveform and they immediately sent out new ones! These one will work for years to come fingers crossed! Thanks guys.
So much nicer light than the Cree bulbs I had previously. The High CRI really matters. I will definitely be buying more, very happy.
