I use this light bulb to help when I am color matching yarn for oriental rug repair. I'm very satisfied and intend to purchase another.
An art club I'm in is considering new lighting for the club's studio. I had just heard about Waveform bulbs and ordered a few for comparison testing. Rather than just trust my eye I did some test shots of my Datacolor SpyderCHECKR and a page of red chips from the Munsell Big Book of Color. The methodology was simple: I manually set my camera's white balance to the bulb's color temperature and took the shot. I've attached a composite image, where the top of each swatch was lit by the studio's current CFL bulbs and the bottom of each swatch is from the NorthLux bulbs. The difference is clear.
I needed a daylight bulb for my art and I was specifically looking for a LED bulb with above 90CRI, which is very hard to find. I even visited a professional photography shop but I could not find what I wanted. I browsed through internet and luckily I stumbled upon your website. I never had a daylight bulb with this high quality of crispness. This was exactly what I was looking for! My husband is an engineer who works in the photonics industry and he is very impressed with your company's technical explanation of color rendering index as well. We are so happy to discover your great products. I am planning to purchase extra bulb for myself and another one for my husband's serious microscope hobby!
I am a traditional media painter, so color rendering is critical for me. I was concerned about the build on these as to heat buildup/dissipation but they don't get really hot at all compared to other LED bulbs I've used. So far these are top quality. I give 4 stars only because I would have liked to be able to get these bulbs in the Absolute (99 CRI) LED.
I am an artist whose media is oil on canvas. I bought this bulb for my studio to enable me to see my colors (both on palette and canvas) accurately. I am extremely happy with the results. I bought a cheap torchiere lamp which I can move as needed and it works well both in the day and at night.
I've been painting with two of these new bulbs for about a month and, so far, I am very pleased. The color rendering is crisp, sharp and as true to the same colors in natural light as any light source I've tried in 35 years. As I work in a studio with very little natural light, finding a reliable light source has been an ongoing challenge for many years. I believe I have found a light source which will allow me to bring paintings back into the studio and continue working on them with little or no color shift.
Thank you for the cri light I was looking for!
I do color Analysis for a living.
I need the 6500 K to color match and the 5000 K for clients to view their works. Both these bulbs work well for the task and are reasonably priced compared to the professional alternatives.
I use these lights for painting. They are excellent for this purpose because there's no color shift. The prince is great, too. Will definitely buy again as needed. Highly recommended.
Wow, these are fantastic lamps. I was worried that the color temperature would be too blue, since I'm used to using something closer to 5000K. It turns out these are fine, though--the color rendering is so good that the light has a very "neutral" quality to it, with no noticeable color casts, despite having a relatively high color temperature. It's a pretty close match to the indirect light coming through the windows of my studio, actually. They seem brighter than 800 lumens, too, though that could just be that they haven't "burned in" yet. Highly recommended!
